Our training courses are available at our premises in Aberdeen and Durham, with the option to deliver directly to delegates on-site at their workplace.
IMPORTANT: Electrotechnical Assessment Specification (EAS) Changes -
October 2026:
From 1 October 2026 companies registered with a Competent Person Scheme will be required to ensure that qualified supervisors and persons responsible for and undertaking work such as installing and maintaining solar photovoltaic systems are competent and this includes holding the relevant qualifications.
Any personnel working on EV, Solar PV, BESS/EESS, and micro wind installations must be qualified in the given specialism. Furthermore, Electrical Installation Condition Reports will only be permitted to be undertaken by those qualified in the specialist area of work; standalone 2391-52 (or equivalent) will no longer be sufficient without a specialist qualification.
Furthermore, companies registered with a Competent Person Scheme will be required to ensure that qualified supervisors and employed persons responsible for and undertaking work such as electrical condition reporting are competent, and this includes holding the relevant qualifications, and a minimum of two years' experience.
If you are unsure as to how these changes will affect you or your staff, please see eFIXX’s short video.
BPEC* Solar Photovoltaic Systems (Solar PV) Course
The 3-day BPEC Solar PV Course is for those wishing to achieve a nationally recognised certification in the design, installation and maintenance of small-scale grid-tied photovoltaic systems. It is based on the National Occupational Standards and is recognised and accepted by the Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS).
Our training experience is unique and enables candidates to get hands-on experience with leading manufacturers' components, using our live Solar PV training rig.
Solar PV adoption in the United Kingdom has grown significantly over the past decade, driven by government incentives, falling technology costs, and the push toward net-zero carbon emissions.
Key UK Solar PV Statistics:
- The UK has over 15 gigawatts (GW) of installed solar PV capacity.
- There are more than 1.3 million solar PV installations across the country.
- Solar power contributes approximately 4–5% of the UK’s total electricity generation annually, with higher contributions during summer months.
- During peak summer days, solar has supplied over 25% of national electricity demand at certain times.
- The UK Government has outlined ambitions to increase solar capacity to 70 GW by 2035 as part of its net zero strategy.
The continued expansion of both residential rooftop systems and utility-scale solar farms highlights the growing demand for qualified and certified Solar PV installers throughout the UK.
Entry Requirements:
To enrol in the Solar PV installation course, you need to hold the following qualifications:
- Level 3 Award in the Requirements for BS7671 (Current Edition)
And one of the following:
- Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Installing Electrotechnical Systems and Equipment (Building, Structures and the Environment)
- Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Electrotechnical Services (Electrical Maintenance)
